Do you know how popular x402 is on the Base chain? It has processed 3.3 million transactions, while the BSC side of the x402 ecosystem has been blank.
However, the situation has changed recently - the b402 protocol has been launched.
At first glance, it looks like a copy and paste of x402, but in reality, it is completely different. x402 relies on Coinbase's USDC and the EIP-3009 standard (off-chain signature authorization), while USDT and USD1 on BSC do not support this standard.
The solution of b402 is ingenious: it introduces a Relayer intermediary layer. The AI Agent signs a message "authorize the transfer of X USDT", the Relayer verifies the signature and executes on behalf, resulting in the Agent completing the payment with zero gas fees, providing an experience as smooth as x402.
What's even cooler is that b402 supports any BEP-20 token, not just USDT. This means USD1 (the stablecoin from the Trump family, with 80% of its supply on BSC) can be used directly, and future new stablecoins can also be integrated. This is the flexibility that x402 cannot achieve.
On-chain data shows that b402 has been online for less than a month, and the new Relayer contract has already processed 45,000 transactions. This is combined with approximately 860,000 transactions from the old contract. After October 26, the trading volume has been steadily increasing, especially after the release of the USD1 payment demonstration.
Currently, the trading volume of USD1 is only 200,000, but this proves that there is already demand. If the AI Agent economy really explodes, BSC combined with b402 may become an unexpected winner.
This is not just an upgrade of the payment protocol, but it opens the door to "gasless transactions" for the entire BSC—any token, any application, any Agent can use it.
