On May 28, according to on-chain data, Cetus’ vote on the Sui protocol upgrade governance proposal to recover stolen funds from hackers is expected to be passed ahead of schedule at 4 a.m. Beijing time on May 30 (1 day, 11 hours and 40 minutes later). The proposal has now received 54.2% of the vote, with 53.9% in favor and only 0.3% against (including 0.22% for Wang Chun’s stakefish, and 0.13% for MIDL.dev) If this vote passes, Sui’s next version will include a protocol upgrade that will support one-time authentication for two special transactions. These transactions will be hard-coded to both attackers’ addresses, the stolen asset object, and its destination. It will verify the voting results and, if approved, transfer the stolen funds from the attacker’s address to the Cetus multisig wallet, which has Cetus, the Sui Foundation, and OtterSec as signatories.
