Swiss bankers assessed the prospects of Solana becoming the "Ethereum killer"

According to a report by Swiss crypto bankers, sentiment around Ether “remains negative.” The market is focused on significant transaction volumes of Solana and its recent dominance in fee generation.

“Setting aside the sentiments, we believe that the medium-term prospects will primarily be determined by the choice of platforms on which traditional financial institutions offer their products,” explained their forecast at Sygnum.

In favor of Ethereum, analysts point to parameters such as security and stability — combined with a higher income. By this measure, the Ethereum network outperforms Solana by 2.5 times.

“The market has always assessed Solana’s revenues as less stable, as they are largely concentrated in the meme coin sector. And this limits its superiority,” experts explained.

Solana is showing progress in the decentralized finance market (DeFi), with the share of funds locked in blockchain smart contracts increasing from 9.5% to 11.5% since the beginning of January. Ether’s share decreased from 63.5% to 55%.

Although Ethereum’s share in the stablecoin market has decreased since the beginning of the year, it still exceeds 50%, while Solana, although it has doubled its market share, remains just above 5%.

While the “Ethereum killers” have yet to encroach on the dominance of the network, and despite innovations in some projects, most have completely faded away, Sygnum has taken notice.

Earlier, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin was inspired by Bitcoin’s minimalist design and urged developers to simplify the base protocol while maintaining the network’s security parameters.
