The father of a crypto entrepreneur was kidnapped and released, and his finger was cut off
On May 4, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau shared a case where, three and a half months after the co-founder of Ledger was kidnapped and held for ransom, the father of a man who made his fortune in Crypto Assets was released in Paris two days after being kidnapped on Saturday night, with four suspects arrested. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the man was kidnapped around 10:30 AM on Thursday in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. According to a police source, the kidnapping was carried out by four masked men in front of witnesses, who took the victim away in a delivery van. The prosecutor’s office did not disclose the specific ransom amount, but according to Le Parisien, the criminals demanded a ransom of between 5 million and 7 million euros to be paid via bank transfer. According to sources close to the case, the kidnappers demanded a ‘very high’ amount, but the ransom was not paid. Following ‘extensive investigations,’ police rescued the detained victim around 9 PM on Saturday in a residence in Essonne. The prosecutor’s office stated that the victim was injured and taken over by rescuers, but did not specify the nature of the injuries. Sources close to the case revealed that one of the victim’s fingers was severed.
