The park consists of scattered marsh areas, the largest of which is the 1,630-hectare Kauhaneva. Another large area is located on the Pohjankangas ridge. The national park received a significant landscape addition when the Katikankanjoni was incorporated into the national park in the 2010s. The national park is suitable for day trips and is managed by Metsähallitus.
