Hong Kong Customs: Seized 219 kg of silver smuggling case
PANews January 29 News, according to Hong Kong Customs, on January 27, Hong Kong Customs cracked a case of smuggling using private cars at the Heung Yuen Wai border control point, seizing approximately 219 kilograms of suspected smuggled silver, valued at about HKD 6.1 million. After investigation, Customs detained a 46-year-old male driver and a 40-year-old male passenger, and charged them with "attempting to export unlisted cargo." The case was brought to court on January 29 at Fanling Magistrates' Court. According to Hong Kong's Import and Export Ordinance, smuggling is a serious offense, with a maximum penalty of HKD 2 million fine and seven years imprisonment upon conviction.
