The UK government released a political financing regulations review report today, expected to ban political parties from accepting cryptocurrency donations

Gate News reports that on March 25, the UK government officially released a review report on UK political finance regulations, including measures to strengthen the prevention of foreign funding (including cryptocurrencies) from interfering in democracy. Previously, Nathan Gill, a former Welsh leader of the UK Reform Party, was sentenced to 10 and a half years for accepting cryptocurrency bribes.

The core content of the report is expected to include a ban on political parties accepting cryptocurrency donations, citing the anonymity and difficulty in tracking of cryptocurrencies, which could be used by other countries to bypass existing rules and interfere with UK elections. The UK Labour government plans to incorporate the review findings into the upcoming Elections and Democracy Bill to tighten regulations on political donations comprehensively.
