Claude Desktop Launches Dispatch Feature: Assign Tasks on Mobile, Execute on Desktop

Gate News, March 18 — Anthropic has launched a new feature called Dispatch (Research Preview) in the Claude desktop Cowork mode. Felix Rieseberg, head of the Claude Cowork project, announced this feature on X.

The core mechanism of Dispatch is: keep the Claude desktop app running on Mac, and users send commands via the mobile Claude app. Claude executes tasks in a sandbox environment on the computer. Files are saved locally, and each step requires user confirmation before execution. This feature is similar to the previous Claude Code Remote Control but is designed for a graphical environment for Cowork. Users can send commands via their phone when outside and check the completed work upon return.

To set it up, scan a QR code in the Mac Claude app to pair with your phone. Dispatch is currently only available to Max subscription users, with Pro users gaining access within a few days.

MacStories’ hands-on testing shows that the feature is currently slow, with about a 50% success rate for tasks. File searches and calling Connectors work well, but actions like sending iMessage or opening apps are not yet available.
