Australian officials respond to US steel and aluminum tariffs: We have not done anything to make the US government uncomfortable.
On February 13, Jinshi Data News, Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell said on Thursday that Australia has increased its supply of aluminum to the United States, which has been approved by Washington. U.S. President Trump said this week that he will consider exempting Australia from 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. One of his closest advisors previously stated that Australia was 'strangling the American aluminum market.' However, Farrell stated that after the supply interruption during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Australia increased its aluminum exports and received support from former U.S. President Biden. 'All of this was done with the full knowledge of the U.S. government. At no stage have we done anything to make the U.S. government uncomfortable.'
