Trump proposes tariffs again to save the economy! Criticizes China's fentanyl exports, praises Musk's DOGE, and dismisses Canadian car imports.
US President Donald Trump ( reviewed the tariff policies during his term at a White House press conference this morning on 4/24. He also predicted that there might be increased tariffs on China and Canada in the future, and referred to Musk as a "patriotic hero." He reiterated the stance of "America First" manufacturing. He stated, "I really miss the glory days when America was supported by tariffs; back then, there was so much money that we didn't know how to spend it."
Made in America Resurgence: Tariffs Spark Boom in Steel and Automotive Industries
Trump stated that the United States lost about $300 to $500 billion in the past year, but by imposing a 25% tariff on steel, aluminum, and automobiles, not only did it fill the fiscal gap, but it also successfully brought many major automobile and steel/aluminum manufacturers back to the United States. He cited three companies that originally planned to set up factories in Mexico, but are now returning to the U.S. to build factories.
"Steel mills, aluminum plants, and automobile factories are fully operational. We have added a total of 11 large automobile factories. In the past, 32% of the market share was taken by Mexico, but now it is reversing."
China faces a 145% tariff: the main reasons are fentanyl and trade deficit.
Trump admitted that he does not plan to reduce the high tariffs of 145% currently imposed on Chinese goods. He emphasized that this is due to China continuously exporting large quantities of fentanyl to the United States, causing a drug crisis that results in approximately 200,000 deaths each year.
It is further claimed that China's trade with the United States has been unfair for a long time, with the United States losing as much as 1.1 trillion dollars in a year.
Elon Musk is a hero: saving money for America, building rockets, making good cars.
When it comes to whether Musk will fade out of Doge, Trump gave high praise, stating that Musk "is a good person and a genius," not only creating excellent electric cars but also making SpaceX rockets reusable, which helps save the country a lot of budget.
"He has many children, but he loves them all very much, and he can launch rockets and bring them back; no one else in this world can do that."
SpaceX recovers rockets. The Russia-Ukraine war should stop: both sides suffer casualties of 3,000 to 5,000 people each week.
Trump pointed out that currently thousands of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are dying each week, and the battlefield conditions captured by satellite images "look like hell." He also advocated for negotiations between both Russia and Ukraine to facilitate an agreement.
"Anyone can make concessions, as long as it can end the war. This is not politics; it is humanitarian. I feel really heartbroken seeing those photos."
The image shows an aerial view of Kyiv and a photo of the Ukrainian border, a complete mess. Not courteous to Canada: we don't want to buy their cars anymore, we will make our own.
Trump mentioned that Canada receives about 200 billion USD in subsidies and economic benefits from the United States each year, yet it divides the market share in automobile manufacturing with the U.S. He indicated that he does not rule out further imposing tariffs of more than 25% on Canadian vehicles in the future, and even stated that he "does not want to buy Canadian cars anymore."
"We can do it ourselves, South Carolina, Michigan, Tennessee, many states can do it."
Nostalgic for the America that relied on tariffs to sustain itself, where money was so abundant it couldn't be counted.
Trump reviewed that from 1870 to 1913, the United States relied entirely on import tariffs to maintain its finances, becoming not only the richest country in the world but also able to build the Panama Canal. He expressed a desire to once again rely on tariffs to restore America's glory in the future, allowing "foreigners to help pay taxes for America." Below is the latest tariff increase summary as of April 2025:
In this article, Trump once again mentions tariffs to save the economy! He criticizes China's fentanyl exports, praises Musk for DOGE, and looks down on Canadian car imports. This first appeared in Chain News ABMedia.
