The second LaLaport shopping center operated by Mitsui & Co. in Taiwan officially opened in Nangang.

The first large regional shopping center in Taiwan operated by Mitsui Fudosan Group, Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport, opened in Taichung in May 2023. The recently opened second Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport located in Nangang, Taipei City, has attracted a large crowd.

The case involves Taiwan Life, a subsidiary of China Trust, acquiring land rights to invest in and develop a mixed-use building. The commercial facilities are leased by Mitsui Real Estate, which is responsible for the operation and management of LaLaport, with the leased part spanning from the first basement level to the sixth above ground, serving as the operational base for Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Nangang.

Introduction to the Surroundings of Nangang LaLaport

"Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Nangang" is located in the Nangang Software Park area of Taipei City, with the main business entity being Taiwan Life Insurance. In addition to the establishment of Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Nangang, the main business also includes office leasing, multifunctional exhibition halls, banquet halls, and other mixed-use development projects. LaLaport is close to two major metropolitan transportation networks in Taipei City: the "Taipei Metro Bannan Line" and the "Taipei Metro Wenhu Line." These two lines converge, and it is only one station away from "Nangang Station," which is integrated with the Taipei Metro, Taiwan Railway, and High-Speed Rail systems. This geographical advantage is seen as a strong competitor and poses a threat to other department store groups in Taipei City.

Adjacent to LaLaport, the Nangang Exhibition Center is currently the largest convention center in Taiwan, with daily foot traffic reaching approximately 20,000 to 170,000 during the exhibition period. Nearby, there are the Taipei Pop Music Center, Nangang Software Park, and the China Trust Financial District, where tens of thousands of domestic and international business professionals pass through daily.

Residential projects around Nangang are on the rise, with a population of about 1 million living near the LaLaport shopping area. LaLaport will be connected to surrounding buildings, including the Nangang Exhibition Hall, the MRT depot, the CTBC Financial Park, and nearby development projects, through pedestrian bridges, allowing pedestrians to conveniently walk between the various buildings.

Nangang LaLaport Shopping Center Features

The biggest feature of LaLaport is the gathering of many European, American, Japanese, and Korean characteristic brands that are relatively rare in Taiwan. The debut includes the Japan overseas flagship store "Harry Potter - The Wizarding World", the Ghibli Studio merchandise specialty store "Acorn Republic", the Nintendo Switch specialty store, the street brand "9090" that mixes Harajuku vintage with its unique style, the debut of the clothing and lifestyle store "LAKOLE", and the local first directly-operated store of the trendy brand "graniph" that combines original design with anime culture. The "Chunjiu Bookstore", which mainly focuses on Japanese and English books, has many Japanese books and cultural creative products. There are also many options for Japanese, Korean, and American food chains on B1 and 5F, including the Japan Hokkaido "Sapporo Bone" which is the overseas flagship store for Japanese grilled beef, and the Hawaiian-themed restaurant "La Ohana" which has scenic seating for enjoying food and view.
