Jen-Hsun Huang: Nvidia temporarily suspends exports to China for Blackwell, waiting for a shift in China's policy.
NVIDIA ( CEO Jen-Hsun Huang arrived in Taiwan discreetly today and stated in an interview that the company is currently not in discussions with Chinese companies regarding the sale of the Blackwell series AI chips, and there are no plans to dump products to China at this time. He emphasized that it all depends on when China changes its policies, which would provide an opportunity for NVIDIA's products to re-enter the Chinese market.
Low-key visit to Taiwan to attend the TSMC Sports Day, clarifying rumors about chip exports to China.
Jen-Hsun Huang clearly pointed out during the interview:
“There are currently no relevant discussions, and we do not plan to dump to China.”
He further stated:
“When NVIDIA products can return to the Chinese market depends on when China is willing to change its policies. I look forward to that day and hope we can serve the Chinese market again.”
This speech also effectively dispels various speculations from the outside regarding NVIDIA's readiness to return to China. Jen-Hsun Huang is expected to visit the long-time partner TSMC's 3nm plant located in Tainan and participate in the TSMC Sports Day tomorrow 11/8.
He is currently traveling around the world, following his visits to Washington, USA, and South Korea. This time he is in Taiwan to continue promoting AI collaboration projects with various industries.
The US-China ban has stifled Nvidia's $50 billion business opportunity.
The US government still prohibits NVIDIA from exporting high-end AI chips to China. Even though the two countries reached a new trade agreement last week, it still does not include provisions for relaxing the sale of Blackwell chips. Trump has made it clear that related exports will not be opened in the short term.
Jen-Hsun Huang pointed out as early as the August financial report meeting that if shipments to China could resume, NVIDIA could capture a potential market of up to 50 billion dollars, while the demand for AI systems in China is expected to grow at a rate of 50% per year.
NVIDIA struggles for survival in the cracks, still needing to guard against competitors seizing the market under the US blockade.
However, according to previous reports, China has currently全面禁止 AI technology companies from using foreign AI chips, and they must use domestically produced chips ) from Huawei and Cambricon (, directly striking American AI chip manufacturers ) such as AMD and Intel (. NVIDIA had nearly a 95% market share in China in 2022, but it has now fallen to 0%.
Under policy restrictions, NVIDIA not only loses the Chinese market but also faces competitive pressure from other chip manufacturers in the industry. AMD and Broadcom are actively laying out their AI chip business, trying to capture a share of NVIDIA's market in this wave of global AI frenzy.
NVIDIA continues to lead the global AI wave, becoming the first company with a market value of 5 trillion dollars.
Due to the impact of the AI boom, NVIDIA, as a global chip giant, has also become the first company in history to surpass 5 trillion dollars, overtaking Apple ) and Microsoft (, temporarily becoming the most valuable company in the world.
Although the stock price has slightly retreated recently, Nvidia remains the leader in the global AI investment wave. Whether Nvidia can make up for the funding gap from losing the Chinese market still needs to be observed.
Currently, NVIDIA has fallen from its historical high of 216.62 USD to 188.09 USD.
)China fully bans foreign AI chips, with NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all being sanctioned(
