Tron Still Rules USDT Transfers with $687B in August as Ethereum Hits Record $504B
Tron secured 57.7% dominance in August 2025 with $687 billion USDT transfers, maintaining majority share despite Ethereum’s strongest month.
Ethereum posted $504 billion in USDT transfers, up 28.9% month-on-month, marking its best month since the stablecoin dominance race began.
Total USDT transfers reached $1.19 trillion in August, pushing 2025’s year-to-date total to $7.63 trillion, near surpassing 2024’s full-year record.
Tron continues to dominate the USDT transfer market, recording $687 billion in August 2025 out of a total $1.19 trillion. Ethereum followed with $504 billion, marking its strongest month on record but still trailing behind Tron.
Tron Maintains Majority Share in USDT Transfers
CryptoQuant.com reported via analyst Crazzyblockk that Tron maintained 57.7% of USDT transfers in August, keeping its lead in the stablecoin economy. The network has consistently outpaced Ethereum in transfer activity, holding dominance since first crossing the 50% threshold in September 2021.
Over the past 74 months, Tron has maintained a majority share for 48 of them, including 16 months with more than 70% control. Ethereum, despite improving momentum, only closes the gap when experiencing exceptionally strong months. August reflected such growth, with Ethereum achieving a 28.9% month-on-month increase.
Tron’s lower transaction costs and faster network speeds continue to attract the bulk of USDT transactions. This technical advantage positions it as the preferred network for stablecoin movement, ensuring its sustained dominance in global transfer activity.
Record-Breaking Year for USDT Transfers in 2025
Data shows August’s $1.19 trillion USDT transfers represented a 7.5% increase from July, demonstrating the growing use of stablecoins across networks. Year-on-year, the market expanded 78.2%, with Ethereum up 140.2% and Tron rising 49.8%.
The year-to-date figure reached $7.63 trillion by the end of August, already 95% of 2024’s full-year total of $8.07 trillion. With four months left, a new annual record is effectively secured for 2025.
In the last three months alone, transfers totaled $3.22 trillion, 18% higher than the previous quarter. These numbers reinforce the upward trajectory of USDT adoption, where Tron remains the dominant network even as Ethereum shows record-breaking growth.
