BNB Chain News: BNB Outperforms Other L1 Tokens, On-Chain Trading Grows
TL;DR:
Things are looking up for digital assets, and altcoins are starting to steal the spotlight.
The Altcoin Season Index is at 53, up from 45 last week and 40 last month, whereas the CMC Fear and Greed Index is back in neutral territory following last week’s dip.
With that in mind, here’s how the BNB Chain sector is holding up.
BNB Chain Market Recap
The BNB Chain ecosystem experienced muted volatility this week, but ended up recording a 0.8% week-on-week gain due to a last-minute resurgence.
Overall, the sector added $1.6 billion to its market capitalization during this period, largely owed to the outsized performance of select BEP-20 tokens.
While the vast majority of tokens remain in the red, this week's top performers put on an impressive display.
This week’s top list (and their catalysts, if known) includes:
MemeCore (M): +133.3% (driven by MemeX Liquidity Festival)
Zentry (ZENT): +33.6% (fresh Binance Trading Competition)
Merlin Chain (MERL): +29.9% (no clear catalyst)
BugsCoin (BGSC): +26.6% (various on-chain campaigns driving volume)

BNB (BNB) itself stayed roughly flat over the last week, losing just 0.5% while largely holding above $860.
It is currently 4.4% away from its all-time high (ATH) of $899.70, holding up better than all other top 10 layer-1 tokens when measured by distance from ATH.
A handful of smaller BNB ecosystem tokens suffered significant drawdowns this week. The worst-affected assets include:
Portal to Bitcoin (PTB): -39.7%
Bio Protocol (BIO): -26.6%
AI Companions (AIC): -24%
Wilder World (WILD): -21.3%

Decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes on BNB Chain have been gradually ticking up due to the popularity of BEP-20 meme coins. The L1 is closing the gap with its two main competitors (Ethereum & Solana) as the two saw a major downtick in on-chain trading this week.
PancakeSwap remains the standout platform on BNB Chain, accounting for just over a quarter of the network’s fee revenue and total value locked (TVL).
