WisdomTree Inc. introduced the Private Credit and Alternative Income Digital Fund, CRDT, giving investors blockchain access to private credit. The fund tracks an equal-weighted index of public vehicles linked to private loans, including closed-end funds, BDCs, and real estate investment trusts. By tokenizing these assets, WisdomTree allows fractional ownership and faster settlement, with a minimum investment of just $25 and a two-day redemption period.

This positions private credit, a booming alternative market, within reach of a broader pool of participants. Investors can now diversify their portfolios more efficiently, gaining exposure to high-yield opportunities that were previously accessible only to large institutions.

Tokenization Aims To Bridge Traditional Finance And DeFi

CRDT is part of WisdomTree’s growing suite of tokenized products, which now holds nearly $900 million in assets, mostly institutional. The broader tokenization market stands around $28 billion, with leaders including BlackRock at $2.2B, Ondo at $1.5B, Anemoy at $1.1B, Maple at $1.1B, and Paxos at $1.0B.

WisdomTree itself manages $879.8M, followed by Tether, Hashnote, Justoken, and Superstate. While still small compared to trillions in ETFs and mutual funds, tokenization is gaining traction as institutions explore blockchain-based accessibility and liquidity solutions. Early adopters also see potential for integrating smart contracts to automate compliance and reporting, adding efficiency to the investment process.

At launch, CRDT will operate on Ethereum and Stellar blockchains, with plans to expand to Avalanche. WisdomTree emphasizes that the fund allows exposure to private credit in a DeFi-friendly format, bridging traditional finance with crypto-native investors.
