**Despite previously stating that he wouldn't launch his own cryptocurrency, Kanye West is preparing to launch a meme coin called YZY. While 70% of this token will be allocated directly to West, only 10% will be used for market liquidity.

Famous rapper Kanye West had previously expressed his opposition to projects that exploit fans by taking a distant approach to the cryptocurrency market. However, according to new information, West has decided to launch a new meme coin called YZY.

Three different sources speaking to CoinDesk noted that YZY is planned to be Kanye West's official payment tool to be used on his own platforms. While 70% of the tokens will be allocated directly to West, only 10% will be provided to the market as liquidity, and the remaining 20% will be allocated to investors.

Following in Trump's footsteps

West's move has been likened to US President Donald Trump's meme coin model called TRUMP. Trump holds 80% of the token, while Kanye West initially wanted an 80% share, but after negotiations, it was reported that 70% was settled. If YZY becomes as popular as TRUMP, West's share could be worth millions of dollars.

YZY token launch postponed

YZY, which was originally scheduled to be sold on Thursday, was postponed to Friday due to a last-minute change. According to CoinDesk, the reason for this delay is the involvement of the LIBRA token, which is backed by Argentine President Javier Milei, in a "pump and dump" scandal.** Sources said that West's team is assessing whether this could harm his project.

The YZY token was initially planned to be released on February 15th, Thursday at 18:00 EST ( and 02:00) Turkish time. According to Coindesk, this date has been postponed to the night of February 16th, Friday at (this time, 02:00) Turkish time. West's team stated that they are being cautious about the release of the token and reported that the project will be finalized within this week.

Kanye West's relationship with cryptocurrencies has been a topic of debate for a long time. In the past, he rejected a $2 million offer by saying 'I'm not releasing a coin.' However, now he is trying to carve out a space for himself in the crypto world by changing his mind. It is a matter of curiosity how West will proceed with this project and how investors will react.
