The price of bitcoin (BTC) has had a considerable rise — which is possibly still ongoing — in the last hour. The digital currency surpassed the $43,900 mark, which was the resistance under which it had been sideways since late January.

At press time, each BTC is trading at $44,260.

Should bitcoin continue its upward path, the breached zone of 43,900 has a high probability of becoming a support. This would lower the odds of the price going down from there, as explained by the theory of support and resistance.

Several pieces of good news in the bitcoin and digital asset ecosystem are driving the rise. For example, the good performance and organic growth of ETFs approved almost a month ago in the United States. Minutes ago, this information portal reported that these ETFs (not counting the one of the company Grayscale, which was previously listed on secondary markets) have a total of 185,000 bitcoins. That's about as much as the BTC the company MicroStrategy accumulates.

And MicroStrategy is the protagonist of another piece of good news that favors bitcoin. As it became known today, February 7, the company led by Michael Saylor will be dedicated to the development of Bitcoin technology.

Also, the proximity of the next halving (which is less than 100 days away) boosts BTC buying. This is because, historically, the price of bitcoin has skyrocketed higher a few months after each halving. With that in mind, this could be a good accumulation zone.
