Thirteen years, from a newbie in candlestick charts to a veteran who has weathered bull and bear markets

In the winter of 2014, I saw someone mention "BitEx" on a technical forum. At that time, I had been working for two years, and my understanding of blockchain was still at the level of "I've heard there's something called Bitcoin." With a mindset of trying it out, I registered for Gate—that was my first cryptocurrency account in life.

The most memorable moment was during the 2017 big bull market. I was watching candlestick charts on Gate, watching a certain altcoin I bought surge from a few cents to several dollars, my heart pounding like a drum. But then came the long bear market, and my account shrank by 80%. During that period, I almost opened Gate’s community every late night to see everyone’s discussions—there were cries, jokes, and veteran players sharing dollar-cost averaging strategies. I gradually understood: in the crypto world, surviving is more important than anything.

In an era when many platforms were still rumored to be "跑路" (run away), this sense of reliability was priceless.

It’s been 13 years, and Gate has transformed from "BitEx" into a leading global exchange, from spot trading to contracts, wealth management, Pre-IPOs, AI trading... but some things have never changed: never delaying user assets, always prioritizing security, and always leading the way in exploring new tracks.
