On the 13th, Sri Lankan Ministry of Defense officials stated that the bodies of the crew members who died aboard the Iranian Navy frigate “Dena” will be transported back to Iran via special aircraft from Sri Lanka on the same day. The Southern District Court of Galle in Sri Lanka approved on the 11th the transfer of the bodies of the deceased crew members stored at a local hospital to the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka. The Iranian military previously issued a statement saying that the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with the Sri Lankan government to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies. On the 4th of this month, the “Dena” was sunk by a torpedo from a U.S. submarine in waters south of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Navy recovered 87 bodies during rescue operations and rescued 32 survivors. (CCTV News)
