On April 14, according to The New York Times in the United States on the 13th, Iran stated that it could only agree to suspend uranium enrichment activities for a maximum of five years. President Trump of the United States has rejected this proposal. The report said that a U.S. official and two senior Iranian officials revealed that during U.S.-Iran negotiations held in Islamabad, Pakistan, the United States demanded Iran suspend uranium enrichment for 20 years. Iran officially responded on the 13th, stating that it could only agree to suspend for a maximum of five years. U.S. officials also said that the United States had asked Iran to export highly enriched uranium out of Iran, but Iran insisted on keeping the enriched uranium domestically. However, Iran proposed that it could significantly dilute these nuclear fuels. The report said that both the U.S. and Iran are discussing holding a new round of face-to-face negotiations, but according to U.S. officials, the related plans have not yet been finalized.
