Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The Philippines' so-called naming of islands and reefs related to China's Nansha Islands infringes on China's territorial sovereignty.

Regarding the Philippines’ plan to rename some islands in the Nansha Islands, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a routine press conference that China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and the surrounding waters. The Philippines’ illegal delimitation of the so-called “Kalayaan Island Group” beyond its territorial scope, and the so-called naming of islands and reefs related to China’s Nansha Islands, infringes on China’s territorial sovereignty and violates the United Nations Charter and relevant international laws. China firmly opposes the Philippines’ actions that damage China’s sovereignty and interests, and will take necessary measures to resolutely defend its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea.
