ME News message. On April 5 (UTC+8), U.S. Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in an NBC interview that Trump is “letting down the U.S. military” on the Iran issue, adding that his remarks are out of sync with reality. Khanna noted that earlier, Trump posted a message demanding that Iran “open the damn Strait of Hormuz,” or else it would face an escalation of strikes. While Trump was “using foul language and threatening war crimes,” U.S. military personnel were under fire, despite Trump repeatedly claiming that Iran’s military strength had been destroyed. Khanna said, “We now have to end this war. An immediate ceasefire is needed. Iran, Israel, and the U.S. must stop bombing and reach a solution through negotiations.” He also said that he will refuse to support any additional funding to prolong the conflict, including appropriations directly for Pentagon war operations.
