The deadline of Trump’s ultimatum has expired. The U.S. has begun a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz

The restrictions also extend to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea: Washington intends to delay Iranian ships and ships that pay Iran for passage.

Thus, the U.S. has blocked a strait that was already blocked. Now no ships will be able to leave the strait at all: part of it is blocked by Iran, and part of it is blocked by the U.S.

Trump promised that members of NATO would join the blockade, but so far no country has officially confirmed it. The EU and China have spoken out against the blockade.

◻️“If any Iranian ship approaches our blockade, it will be immediately destroyed”—Trump wrote.

“The Iranian Navy lies at the bottom of the sea, completely destroyed—158 ships. We didn’t hit their few ‘fast attack ships’ because we didn’t consider them a serious threat. Warning: if any of these ships approaches our blockade, it will be immediately destroyed. This will be done with the same system that we use against drug traffickers at sea. 98.2% of drugs entering the United States by sea or ocean have been stopped.”
