Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez said today (March 19) at the EU Spring Summit that Spanish society has condemned from the very beginning the U.S. and Israel’s actions against Iran, does not support them, and believes they violate international law. Sánchez pointed out that this war has not only caused serious casualties and refugee issues, but has also affected the cost of living and the economic well-being of people in his country. Sánchez said that Europe is built on principles such as multilateralism, joint decision-making, adherence to international law, and peaceful coexistence among countries and societies—principles that are once again being challenged. The Spanish government reiterated that it will continue to adhere to the above principles. Sánchez said that one of the agenda items of the EU summit held that day was to address the economic impact of this “illegal war”; the Spanish government will hold a special cabinet meeting the following day and announce the corresponding measures.
