Changan Automobile's March sales exceeded 270k vehicles, a 78% month-over-month increase

On April 1, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Changan Auto”) released its latest sales performance. According to the data, Changan Auto’s March sales reached 270,600 units, up 78% month-on-month; overseas sales hit a new record high of 103,900 units, up 60% month-on-month; new energy sales were 89,600 units, up 112% month-on-month. Judging from the data, against the backdrop of the shift in automotive consumption policies and market demand being released ahead of schedule at the end of last year, Changan Auto still maintained a steady growth momentum.
Five major brands, all exerting their efforts
Changan Auto’s performance in the new energy market is rooted in its forward-looking planning in the new energy sector and its deep technological accumulation. In 2017, Changan Auto launched the “Shangri-La” plan, continuously building three global digital intelligence new energy brands—Avita, Deep Blue, and Changan Qiyuan. The new energy sales in March are the best proof of the effectiveness of this plan.
Specifically, Changan Qiyuan sold 36,875 units in March, up 102% month-on-month; the all-new Q053 delivered 12,600 units, up 188% month-on-month; Deep Blue sold 31,742 units in March, up 88% month-on-month; Deep Blue S05 sold 17,586 units in March, with cumulative sales exceeding 190,000 units; Avita sold 5,143 units in March. The new Avita 12 & all-new 06T are set to be launched on April 8, with both cars building momentum and preparing to debut.
While steadily advancing its new energy business, Changan Auto also maintained a growth momentum in the traditional fuel vehicle sector, forming a development pattern with new energy and fuel vehicles moving forward in parallel: Changan Auto’s Yingli (Attraction) series sold 103,900 units in March, up 74% month-on-month; the Changan CS75 series and Yidong series both exceeded 20,000 units in March. Changan Kaicheng sold 28,100 units in March, up 94% month-on-month, and its pickup truck products surpassed 10,000 units in monthly sales.
The growth in sales is inseparable from breakthroughs in and empowerment by new energy technology. Changan Auto continues to deepen its efforts in the battery field. In addition to its self-developed battery brand, Changan “Jinzhongzhao,” it is also targeting the next generation of batteries, focusing on solid-state batteries. It is expected to validate vehicle installation in 2026 and progressively promote full solid-state batteries toward mass production in 2027, with an energy density of 400Wh/kg. In addition, the brand has jointly released the world’s first sodium-ion mass-produced passenger car with CATL, promoting sodium battery technology from laboratory experiments to large-scale passenger car applications.
Furthermore, looking ahead to the future of mobility, Changan Auto has put forward a global hybrid solution for China. On March 30, Changan Auto officially released its new generation hybrid technology—Blue Whale Super Power Hybrid—empowering traditional fuel vehicles with electric technology, and innovating a “oil and electric side by side, intelligent integration” upgrade-level hybrid new mode.
“Beidou Tianshu” intelligent advancement
At present, the automotive industry is shifting from the “electricization first half” to the “intelligentization second half.” Changan Auto has keenly captured this trend and launched the “Beidou Tianshu 2.0” plan. Benefiting from the brand’s annual R&D investment of more than 5% of operating revenue and its “six countries and ten locations” global R&D layout, Changan Auto continues to push forward to new heights in intelligentization.
Entering 2026, Changan Auto has seen frequent good news in intelligentization. Since last September, when it released the “Tianshu Intelligence” brand, in March this year Changan Auto introduced the “new safety” achievements of Tianshu Intelligence. Its Taihang distributed electric drive technology has officially entered the mass production and popularization stage. In the field of intelligent driving, Changan Auto has also achieved breakthroughs one after another. After obtaining the domestic first official license plate for L3 level dedicated autonomous driving in December last year, on March 29, Changan Auto announced that it had obtained approval for L4 level self-developed Robotaxi testing licenses, forming an industry pattern in which L3 and L4 intelligent driving technologies advance in parallel at the leading edge. This also marks that Tianshu Intelligence is accelerating its comprehensive move from high-level intelligent driving assistance to the commercial early deployment of driverless ride-hailing services.
Looking ahead, Changan Auto continues to expand the boundaries of technology. On April 1, Changan Tianshu Intelligent Robot (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. was officially established. It is positioned as the core carrier for Changan’s robot industry strategic initiative, aiming to reshape the mobility ecosystem with embodied intelligence. This is a key step for the Tianshu Intelligence brand to move from “cars” to “pan-mobility.” In the future, Changan Auto will work with partners to explore various application scenarios of “pan-mobility,” and build new growth curves centered on robots and artificial intelligence.
From “product export” to “ecosystem going global”
“There is no Changan without overseas.” The overseas market has become another core new growth driver for Changan Auto, and Changan Auto’s overseas sales in March is a strong proof of this momentum. At present, Changan Auto has moved beyond “product export,” adopting an “ecosystem going global” model to achieve the leap from “going out” to “getting integrated in,” helping China’s intelligent manufacturing technology standards and industrial models go global.
Since 2026, Changan Auto has been advancing deeply in five major overseas regions, with especially breakthrough progress in Central and South America: on March 26, Changan Auto’s Brazil plant officially went into production and rolled off the line. Also in March, Changan Auto released four new-generation models, including CS55 PLUS and CS75 PLUS, in Mexico, and launched large-scale channel onboarding work. Looking ahead, Changan Auto will focus on advancing its global layout and accelerating its move toward becoming a world-class automotive brand.
Driven by coordinated efforts among three major plans, Changan Auto’s sales scale has continued to grow steadily, and its industrial structure has been continuously optimized. Entering April, with the launch of refreshed products such as Avita 12, Deep Blue L06/S07, and Attraction, Changan Auto is expected to usher in a new round of growth. Changan Auto said it will adhere to clear strategic determination, anchor itself on a direction of high-quality development, and move forward firmly toward the goal of becoming a world-class automotive brand.
