That Friday in CDMX was total chaos. It turned out that there were blockades throughout Mexico City for practically the entire day, starting early at Chabacano with the Metro all the way until well into the afternoon. The Frente antigentrificación came out with its march from Chilpancingo around 11 a.m., so just imagine the traffic on Insurgentes Sur.

The most intense part was seeing how they paralyzed several key points: the U.S. Embassy in Lomas, the National Cinema Museum in Benito Juárez, the Labor Court in the Centro. Basically, it was a day where any movement around the city was a headache. There were also demonstrations in Milpa Alta and Iztacalco, all coordinated at different times to maximize the impact.

Honestly, even though the blockades in Mexico City that day caused a traffic disaster, it makes sense that people would go out to protest these issues. What doesn’t make sense is how the C5 took so long to properly communicate all the affected routes. How did you find out about the closures? Did anyone manage to avoid the traffic, or was it impossible?
