ME News report, April 5 (UTC+8), U.S. Democratic House Armed Services Committee member Ro Khanna said in an NBC interview that Trump is “letting down the U.S. military” on the Iran issue, adding that his remarks are out of sync with reality. Khanna noted that earlier, Trump posted a message demanding that Iran “open the damn Strait of Hormuz,” or else it would face an escalation strike. As Trump was “using foul language and threatening war crimes,” U.S. military personnel were being targeted, despite Trump repeatedly claiming that Iran’s military strength had been destroyed. Khanna said, “We now have to end this war. We need an immediate ceasefire. Iran, Israel, and the United States must stop bombing and reach a solution through negotiations.” He also said he would refuse to support any additional funding to prolong the conflict, including appropriations directly for Pentagon war operations.
