Finding the best tomato juice is surprisingly difficult, isn't it? There are so many options like Kagome, Del Monte, Ito En, and more, and it's hard to tell which one is truly good. Recently, I tried a few, but I think the key points when choosing are taste, lycopene content, and how easy it is to drink regularly.
First, I was surprised by Del Monte's "Lycopene Rich." It’s rich but not greenish, and even though it’s 100% tomato, it has a natural sweetness. The lycopene content is quite high at 44.5 mg per 200 ml. Since it contains no added sugar or salt, it’s perfect for health-conscious people. However, it’s quite thick, so it might not be suitable for those who prefer a thinner texture.
On the other hand, if you drink it daily, Gold Pack’s "Tomato Juice" offers the best cost performance. It’s 1 liter per bottle and inexpensive, with a smooth, easy-to-drink texture. The lycopene is also sufficient at 16.8 mg per 200 ml. It has less greenish flavor, making it beginner-friendly.
If you prioritize richness, Kagome’s "Rich Lycopene" is also a candidate. It has a flavor similar to ripe tomatoes, with a high lycopene content of 46.8 mg per 195 ml. It’s salt-free and perfect for tomato lovers, but its stronger acidity may not suit everyone’s taste.
Ito En’s "Ideal Tomato" offers a balanced flavor. It has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, and comes with a straw for easy portability. With 25 mg of lycopene per 200 ml, it’s a recommended product for daily consumption.
Ikeda Seikaen’s "Everyday Full Tomato White" is also interesting. It tastes fruity despite being tomato, so even people who dislike tomatoes can drink it. Its sweet aftertaste makes it easy to continue, and with 15 mg of lycopene per 100 g, it’s sufficient.
Personally, I also liked Suntory’s "Refreshing Tomato." It has very little greenish flavor and can be drunk smoothly. It contains 19.3 mg of lycopene per can, making it suitable for those who dislike tomatoes but are health-conscious.
Kagome’s "Low Salt, High Lycopene Tomato" is a functional food that reports lycopene and GABA contribute to lowering blood pressure. It’s less sweet and easy to drink, making it a good choice for daily consumption.
Premium Red (Kagome) has a top-class lycopene content of 37.8 mg per 160 g. It tastes like ripe tomatoes and is beginner-friendly. However, those used to stronger flavors might find it lacking.
Ultimately, the way to choose recommended tomato juice is: if you prefer rich flavors, go for Del Monte or Kagome’s rich types; for daily drinking, Gold Pack or Suntory; if you prioritize balance, Ito En or Ikeda Seikaen. Picking based on your taste and lycopene content is the best approach. It’s worth trying!
