I noticed something in one of Vitalik's recent writings. Ethereum's founder Vitalik Buterin has made quite sharp criticisms about DAOs, which have been a long-standing topic of debate within the crypto community. He emphasizes how far many of today's DAO structures have deviated from their original vision of decentralization.
Vitalik's main argument is this: When DAOs first emerged, they were designed with a radical ideal of decentralization. But over time, these ideals have eroded. Now, many DAOs, although named decentralized, in practice operate management and decision-making mechanisms similar to old hierarchical structures.
According to Vitalik, the problem lies not only in the failure of current DAOs but also in the very design philosophy itself. He advocates for rethinking better, more effective, and truly decentralized DAO models. This is not just a technical improvement but essentially a return to the core principles of the crypto ecosystem.
I believe Vitalik's statements mark the beginning of an important discussion in the crypto space. DAOs were seen as one of the most interesting applications of blockchain technology, but reality has not matched expectations. If Vitalik's suggestions are taken seriously, we may see radical changes in DAO design in the coming period.
