Hey, I just found out that the fines for using a cell phone while driving in Mexico City increased since February. Now they charge you between 3,500 and 4,100 pesos if you're caught with the phone in your hand while driving. All because of the update to the UMA made by INEGI. The fine for using a cell phone is calculated in UMAs, so when the unit goes up, everything goes up. The strange thing is that no one in my circle found out until now. If you receive a fine, you at least have 10 days to pay it with a 50% discount, so that's something. But honestly, between the traffic in the capital and these increasingly expensive fines, it's better to keep the phone stored away. It's not worth the risk. Did you already know about the increase?
