Recently, I started researching how much a Brigadier General in the Mexican Army actually earns, and the numbers are quite interesting. It turns out that military salaries are higher than many people think, especially at higher ranks.

According to the 2026 pay scale, a Brigadier General or Wing General earns around 122,000 pesos per month, which adds up to more than 1.4 million annually. But that’s not even close to the maximum. A Division General can earn up to 133,000 pesos per month. Basically, from the rank of Colonel upward, we’re talking about salaries that exceed a million per year.

What’s surprising is that, in addition to the base salary, these military personnel receive very generous benefits: a 40-day Christmas bonus, vacation premium, compensation, a 40% technical allowance, food supplies, and transportation. All of that significantly increases the final income.

To reach those ranks, you need to study in the Military Educational System, either at the Heroic Military College or specialized schools. But if someone asks how much a Brigadier General specifically earns, the answer is that they earn around 1.4 million annually without counting extra benefits. It’s definitely not a bad salary considering the job stability it offers.
