I just reviewed the 2026 military salary table and I was quite surprised. A regular soldier in Mexico earns around 18,840 pesos per month, which is quite good compared to other jobs. But what's interesting is to see how income changes as you ascend in rank.
For example, a Second Captain in the Mexican Army earns approximately 38,993 pesos a month, while a First Captain is around 42,979. The difference is noticeable, but the real jump comes when you reach higher ranks. A Colonel is already earning nearly 91,000 pesos monthly, and Division Generals reach 133,503 pesos.
What many don't know is that these salaries in the Mexican Army come with quite generous benefits: a 40-day Christmas bonus, vacation premium, groceries, transportation, and a technical allowance of an additional 40%. Some officer positions like Second Captain and above effectively exceed one million pesos annually when everything is added up.
If you consider that professional training is needed, options like the Heroic Military College are available. Interestingly, a soldier or professional military personnel actually earns more than many college graduates in other fields, at least in the first few years.
