On the morning of March 24, the second trial of the "Tai'an home invasion baby-snatching" case was held and verdict was delivered in Tai'an, Shandong Province. According to information obtained from the parties and families involved in the case, the second trial upheld the original judgment. At around 9 a.m., Qiao Shoufeng, the mother of Jiang Jiaru, the baby who was snatched back then, walked out of the courthouse and told reporters from Jimu News: "Without buyers, there would be no sellers. I hope buyers and sellers are punished equally." #梅姨案被拐者带判决书旁听抢婴案#
According to Jimu News's previous reporting, Zeng Xiaohao, Lü Guangdong, and Wang Xuyong learned from Yuan Yonggui that only elderly people were at home in the Jiang family. In the early hours of December 4, 2006, the three carried burglary tools such as wire cutters and crowbars, climbed over the wall into the yard, broke the lock, and snatched away 8-month-old baby Jiang Jiaru, whom they later sold. Afterward, Jiang Jiaru's mother Qiao Shoufeng embarked on a journey to find her son. Seventeen years later, with efforts by the police, Jiang Jiaru was reunited with his family in 2024, and the defendants involved in the case were also arrested and brought to justice. #被拐17年婴儿家属呼吁买卖同罪#
On September 19, 2025, the "Tai'an home invasion baby-snatching" case was pronounced by the Tai'an Intermediate People's Court in first instance, sentencing Zeng Xiaohao to death with a two-year reprieve, Lü Guangdong and Wang Xuyong to life imprisonment, and Yuan Yonggui to 15 years in prison. Zeng Xiaohao and Yuan Yonggui filed appeals. On December 5, 2025, the case was heard on second trial at the Tai'an Intermediate People's Court in Shandong Province. After 5 hours of trial, the verdict was not delivered on the spot.
Jiang Jiaru's older brother told reporters after leaving the courtroom that the four defendants received the verdict through an online video conference. After hearing the sentence, Zeng Xiaohao "cursed at the other defendants around him on both sides, and we could clearly see him debating the matter with Wang Xuyong." Jiang Jiaru told reporters that the Jiang family will go to his grandfather's grave to pay respects, saying "Grandfather's spirit in heaven will certainly be comforted knowing that we have succeeded."
"Without buyers, there would be no sellers. I hope buyers and sellers are punished equally," said Jiang Jiaru's mother, expressing hope that investigative action will be taken against the buyers.
Defendant's representative lawyer Li Sheng stated that the trial results aligned with expectations. Defendant Zeng Xiaohao attempted to reduce his sentence through exposing and accusing others, but the Shandong Provincial Procuratorate verified the claims to be untrue; Yuan Yonggui claimed the Jiang family's information was "casually mentioned unintentionally," which the Shandong Provincial Higher People's Court determined to be untrue. "This verdict effectively deters child trafficking crimes and conveys positive social effects to society," Li Sheng said.
