Odaily Planet Daily News: The Trump administration is secretly evaluating Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani as a potential partner, or even a future leader of Iran. This marks a shift from military pressure to ending the war through negotiations. The 64-year-old Larijani has threatened retaliation against the U.S. and its allies multiple times, but according to two government officials, at least some within the White House see him as a viable partner who could lead Iran in the next phase of the conflict and negotiate with the Trump administration. One official said, “He’s a good choice,” but emphasized that no decision has been made yet. “He’s one of the top candidates. But we need to test them; we can’t rush into it.” Larijani denied any negotiations with the U.S. on Monday, but officials dismissed his comments as a domestic political gesture. “We are in a testing phase, trying to figure out who can rise, who wants to rise, and who is trying to rise,” said an official. “When someone emerges, we will test them quickly. If they are too radical, we will eliminate them.” (Politico)
