US media confirms that the United States is responsible for the elementary school attack in Iran with Tomahawk cruise missiles, due to a targeting error by the US military.

According to information published by The New York Times, the February 28 attack destroyed Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab city, southern Iran, killing over 170 people, mostly students. The initial investigation report states that a Tomahawk cruise missile was launched during a bombing campaign targeting a nearby military base, but the target data generated from outdated intelligence information caused the coordinates to be mistakenly identified as the school area. This area previously belonged to the military base grounds but was later separated and converted into a school.
US officials say the investigation is ongoing to clarify why outdated data was still used and who should be held responsible for this serious error.
