An American official stated that within the first 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury, attacks in the region resulted in 18 U.S. military personnel being seriously injured. On February 28, the U.S. launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and several senior military and political officials. The Pentagon announced on the 28th that the U.S. named this airstrike operation “Epic Fury.” Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military bases in the Gulf region and Israel, affecting some Middle Eastern countries.
