UN Secretary-General Guterres and several UN agency leaders issued a statement on the Middle East situation, calling for all parties to cease fire and stop fighting, using diplomatic means to resolve conflicts and prevent further escalation. UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said at a routine press conference that as the situation in Iran remains tense, the related impacts could spill over further and cause greater shocks to the global economy. Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, stated today that these war funds could have been used for humanitarian aid, but are now being spent on warfare. Humanity’s wisdom and creativity are being used for killing, with increasingly advanced weapons being developed, which is heartbreaking. (CCTV International News)
