Yangtze River Delta–Central Europe (Central Asia) Rail Freight Volume Increases by 27.3%

Beijing, March 6 (Reporter Li Xinpeng) — According to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., in the first two months of this year, the number of China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains operating in the Yangtze River Delta has seen strong growth, with a total of 525 trains dispatched, a 27.3% increase year-on-year. Goods such as complete vehicles, auto parts, and daily chemical products are continuously being shipped via China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains to the countries along the route.

Since the first China-Europe (Central Asia) train service launched on September 29, 2013 (Suzhou–Warsaw), over ten years of market cultivation have expanded the Yangtze River Delta China-Europe (Central Asia) rail routes from 1 to now 15, connecting 36 Eurasian countries. Among them, 25 countries in Europe include Germany, Spain, and the UK, while 11 countries in Asia include Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.

Currently, the Yangtze River Delta region has formed distinct freight characteristics: Yiwu to European countries mainly exports small commodities; Suzhou to Hamburg, Germany, and Warsaw, Poland, primarily exports electronics and appliances; Hefei to Hamburg mainly exports white goods and machinery. In the first two months of this year, Yiwu China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains successfully dispatched 152 trains, with 16,000 TEUs shipped.
