AI Inspires Public Creativity! The First JD AI Film and Television Creation Competition Sparks a "Everyone is a Director" Trend

On February 6th, the winners of the inaugural JD AI Film and Television Creation Competition were officially announced. After multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation by a jury composed of competition organizers, external directors, and university experts, 10 outstanding works were selected from thousands of entries. These winners received base prizes, brand track awards, and a Year of the Horse special creative award. This marks the successful conclusion of the three-week AI creative event, which not only showcased the vibrant power of nationwide AI creation but also led a new trend of co-creating content between brands and users.

This JD AI Film and Television Creation Competition was supported by JD JoyAI’s large model technology. With the theme “1001 Dramatic Gifts,” it was launched on January 14th and quickly ignited the creative community, attracting many creators to participate actively. Participants came from various industries: including programmers, engineers, and other technical professionals, as well as teachers, financial practitioners, and cross-disciplinary creators; there were designers and marketing experts skilled in visual expression, as well as students, full-time moms, and diverse groups. The diverse participation structure fully demonstrates that AI creation tools have surpassed professional barriers and have become a shared platform for creative expression among the public.

According to the competition rules, participants could choose to create using the JD New Year Goods Lucky Horse IP character “Ma Honghong” or designated products from partner brands. JD provided comprehensive support through cash rewards of up to 100,000 yuan and traffic promotion. The judging mechanism adopted a dual-track system of “data popularity + professional review,” assessing both the dissemination performance within JD’s “circles” and the content’s creativity and artistic quality.

During the competition, JD collaborated with brands such as Midea, iFlytek (002230), Xiaodu, ZhuiMi, and others, granting participants great creative freedom—allowing users to take the lead in AI video creation and interpretation for brands. Many innovative works emerged as users reimagined brand expressions with AI tools. Notably, creators cleverly combined products like BURBERRY horse scarves, BOWO Chilean frozen king crab holiday seafood gift boxes, Clarins Double Serum Year of the Horse limited edition gift boxes, JD Jingxi X Dunhuang instant bird’s nest holiday gift boxes, Midea’s Cool & Power-saving second-generation air conditioners, ZhuiMi’s Spring Festival smart vacuum cleaner, iFlytek AI learning devices, and Xiaodu health screens and smart speakers. Using AI technology and cinematic expression, they produced vivid works that received high recognition from brands.

This event highlights that AI videos are becoming a key trend in brand marketing. Yuan Hai, a participant, won the JD Global Shopping brand track award with his 3D animated short film “New Year Gift Agent Team,” vividly showcasing various holiday products. He completed the entire project alone using AI tools—from generating music and atmosphere rough cuts to frame-by-frame optimization—within just one week, creating a creative and well-presented animation. Yuan Hai stated, “This is an era where ‘ideas become works.’ AI brings creation back to the essence of creativity. As long as you think thoroughly and express precisely, AI can multiply individual capabilities, allowing our existing aesthetics, taste, and ideas to be amplified in ways previously unimaginable with technological support.”

The successful hosting of this competition not only discovered a group of excellent AI video creators and produced many outstanding AI film and television works but also validated the huge potential of “user co-creation” in brand marketing. In the future, JD will continue to hold AI film and television creation competitions around different festivals and themes, providing more creators with a stage to showcase their ideas and generous rewards, enabling everyone to realize their creative dreams with AI.
