Espresso Network transitioned to PoS on February 27, aiming to complete the process by March 4 to establish a fully permissionless and decentralized foundational layer secured by staked ESP. The upgrade occurs in three phases (each approximately 40,000 blocks, about 1 day): February 27: Over 90% of nodes upgrade, process begins. Epoch 1 (March 2): Triggered at block 10,960,201, Epoch 3 staking table locks. Epoch 2 (March 3): Transition phase. Epoch 3 (March 4): Effective at block 11,040,000, staking rewards start accumulating, HotShot officially runs PoS. After PoS, voting power is proportional to staked ESP, and the active set is dynamically adjusted to the top 100 stakers; two-thirds honest validators ensure security, and malicious behavior can be proven on-chain.
