Iran claims to have destroyed the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, Iraq

According to reports from Iran on March 2 local time, the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), “has been destroyed and is no longer operational.”

The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the U.S. have not responded to this matter.

According to statistics from Erbil security authorities on March 2, since February 28, the KRI has experienced more than ten attacks launched by Iran and Iraqi militia groups known as the Islamic Resistance Organization. The attacks involved over 60 missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted by local air defense systems.
