Norwegian Prime Minister Støre stated during a security policy speech in Parliament on the 12th that the current policy direction of the U.S. government brings “great uncertainty” to Norway, creating a “highly serious” situation. Støre said that U.S. foreign and trade policies are undergoing significant shifts, with " unpredictability" becoming a prominent feature. He expressed concern over U.S. verbal attacks and specifically mentioned President Trump’s aggressive remarks towards European allies during the 2025 United Nations General Assembly, believing this reflects a deterioration in diplomatic relations. He said tariffs are being used as bargaining chips by the U.S., forcing other countries to make concessions in areas unrelated to trade. He also criticized the U.S. for withdrawing from international cooperation on climate change, healthcare, and other fields. Støre stated that Norway will strengthen security cooperation with Nordic partners and neighboring countries to reduce reliance on the U.S. in security matters. (CCTV News)
