CARACAS, Feb 11 (Reuters) - U.S. Energy Secretary, Chris Wright, said Wednesday during a visit to Venezuela that legitimate Chinese company agreements will be acceptable in Venezuela, but the Trump administration is trying to avoid “harmful” deals that Beijing companies have closed in other regional countries.

Wright, the highest-ranking U.S. official visiting Venezuela since the U.S. captured President Nicolás Maduro last month, said debt restructuring agreements are necessary to compensate companies after the expropriations two decades ago in Venezuela, but that this will not happen “overnight.”

Wright also stated that the risk for energy companies investing in the South American country is lower after the government approved the oil reform last month, but that the changes may not be enough to generate large capital flows.
