On February 24th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A reporter from DPA asked whether China intends to mention the Ukraine issue during German Chancellor Mert’s visit to China. Mao Ning stated that during Chancellor Mert’s visit, the two leaders will exchange views on issues of mutual concern. Regarding the Ukraine crisis, Mao Ning reiterated that China is not a party to the Ukraine issue. Since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis, China has maintained an objective and fair stance, actively advocating for peace and dialogue. “The Ukraine crisis is not and should not become a matter between China and Europe. We support efforts to resolve the crisis through diplomatic means as soon as possible to achieve long-term stability in Europe.” (The Paper)
