2025 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin Released

On February 28, the National Bureau of Statistics released the “Statistical Bulletin of the People’s Republic of China on National Economic and Social Development in 2025.”

Preliminary calculations show that the annual gross domestic product (GDP) was 14,018.79 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 933.47 billion yuan, up 3.9%; the secondary industry added value was 4,996.53 billion yuan, up 4.5%; and the tertiary industry added value was 8,088.79 billion yuan, up 5.4%. The primary industry accounted for 6.7% of GDP, the secondary industry for 35.6%, and the tertiary industry for 57.7%. Final consumption expenditure contributed 2.6 percentage points to GDP growth, capital formation contributed 0.8 percentage points, and net exports of goods and services contributed 1.6 percentage points.

Quarterly, GDP grew by 5.4% year-on-year in the first quarter, 5.2% in the second quarter, 4.8% in the third quarter, and 4.5% in the fourth quarter. The annual per capita GDP was 99,665 yuan, an increase of 5.1% over the previous year. The gross national income was 13,937 billion yuan, up 5.1%.
