Abstract generation in progress

San Francisco officials are increasing pressure for a potential public takeover of Pacific Gas & Electric’s local grid following recent power outages that affected thousands. State Senator Scott Wiener has introduced SB 875 to simplify the process for cities to separate from private utilities, while the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution supporting the acquisition of PG&E assets. PG&E, however, argues that a takeover would raise customer rates and accuses the city of delaying valuation proceedings by not clearly identifying assets.
