Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced the list of national-level green factories for 2025. NIO’s advanced manufacturing plant was officially recognized as a “National Green Factory” for its outstanding performance in green management throughout the entire lifecycle.
The evaluation of “National Green Factory” is a core measure for the country to implement the “dual carbon” strategy and build a green manufacturing system. According to the “Interim Measures for the Gradient Cultivation and Management of Green Factories,” this assessment involves rigorous evaluation over several months across five dimensions: land use efficiency, clean production, resource efficiency, low-carbon energy, and green products.
This recognition marks that NIO’s advanced manufacturing plant has achieved a fundamental shift from being a “energy consumer” to a “green contributor” in the manufacturing process, setting a benchmark for deep integration of green transformation in the automotive industry.
From the initial planning stage, NIO’s advanced manufacturing plant embedded a “low-carbon gene” into every detail of infrastructure and processes.
By establishing a comprehensive energy and carbon management system, NIO’s plant enables real-time monitoring and intelligent optimization of energy consumption, ensuring production efficiency while further reducing per-vehicle energy use and carbon intensity. Through deep practice of circular economy principles, the plant has built high-standard water reuse systems and industrial waste recycling systems, transforming waste from production into renewable resources through innovative processes, significantly reducing dependence on raw resources. Additionally, in core manufacturing processes such as painting and welding, the plant adopts green and environmentally friendly techniques, greatly reducing volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
Since 2025, NIO has demonstrated strong performance in sustainable development. This national green factory recognition is a key milestone in NIO’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy. Furthermore, NIO has maintained an MSCI AA rating and ranks among the top Chinese automakers in the S&P CSA rating. Internationally, NIO has been listed for four consecutive years among the “Global Top 100 Companies for Sustainable Development,” demonstrating China’s influence in green manufacturing within the global value chain.
In the future, NIO will continue to demonstrate and lead in green manufacturing, supporting the sustainable development of the industry.
