According to CCTV News, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Badri stated in an interview in Washington on February 27 that Iran has agreed not to possess “nuclear material capable of making nuclear bombs.”
Previously, according to CCTV, on the 27th local time, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr met with U.S. Vice President Harris in Washington.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, both sides reviewed the progress made in the indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Iran facilitated by Oman, as well as diplomatic efforts to reach a fair and sustainable nuclear agreement and ensure the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
Badr said that the negotiations have so far achieved “key, important, and unprecedented progress,” which could lay the foundation for reaching the expected agreement.
On the same day, Badr also expressed on social media that he looks forward to further and decisive progress in the U.S.-Iran talks in the coming days. He also pointed out:
Peace is within reach.
However, Wallstreet.cn mentioned that optimistic signals from diplomacy cannot hide the sharply rising military risks.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the U.S. Navy’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Ford, arrived in Israeli waters on the 27th, Friday, joining the already deployed USS Lincoln in forming a “dual aircraft carrier strike group”; about 20 U.S. refueling aircraft also arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel on the same day.
Also on Friday, the U.S. Embassy in Israel announced that, “due to security risks,” the U.S. State Department has approved the evacuation of non-emergency personnel and their families from the U.S. mission in Israel. U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David H. McCormick, urged relevant personnel to “leave Israel today” if they plan to depart.
Several countries, including China, are either calling on their citizens to evacuate or recalling diplomatic personnel from Iran. International airlines have announced suspensions of related flights.
