A fire at a temple in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, has tragically claimed the lives of five people. This news has caused a significant shock to the local community. According to authorities’ investigation, multiple fires broke out in the early morning hours of mid-February, and despite the firefighters’ strenuous efforts to extinguish the flames, severe damage occurred.

Fires claiming lives and destroying buildings one after another

Reports indicate that the fire was reported to the local fire department around 2:30 a.m. on February 20. Firefighters responded quickly, but the blaze was intense, and it took about three hours of relentless effort to bring it under control. As a result of the fire, three structures—including the main hall and residential buildings—were burned down, ultimately resulting in the deaths of five people. It appears that the flames engulfed the buildings one after another, leaving no way to stop the destruction.
