According to the collaboration, Amazon will provide a stateful runtime environment for OpenAI through Amazon Bedrock and become the exclusive third-party cloud distribution provider for OpenAI Frontier. OpenAI will also heavily adopt Amazon’s Trainium chips, which offer 30-40% better cost-performance than comparable GPUs. Jassy stated that OpenAI has an excellent team, products, and vision, and Amazon believes this investment will bring long-term returns to the company.
